LIBRARY INTRODUCES NEW BIRTHDAY CLUB PROGRAM

Beginning October 1, Marshall County Public Library will launch a brand new, system-wide program designed to celebrate and connect with patrons and community members by celebrating their birthdays.

Patrons of any age can participate in the Birthday Club program by filling out a slip of paper detailing their basic information and putting it into the birthday box at any of the library’s three branches during their birthday month. One winner will be drawn at the end of the month to receive a birthday present.

Children’s Librarian Beth Kerrick said she hopes the new program will serve as an opportunity for patrons to come into the library building, reconnect with staff and feel a sense of normalcy.

“With the pandemic, a lot of places have limited their capacity and some people may not feel comfortable going into businesses,” Kerrick said. “We are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of our patrons.”

The birthday present for the month of October is fall decorative tin with a $10 gift card. Although library cards are not required to participate in the program, patrons are encouraged to sign up for one.

“Getting a library card is super easy,” Kerrick said. “If you're at least six years old and can show valid proof of Marshall County residence, such as a piece of mail, you can get a library card.”

Patrons with a birthday in the month of October can enter to win their month’s birthday present as soon as October 1. For more information about the Birthday Club program, call the library at (270) 527-9969.
