LIBRARY EXCEEDS 56,000 E-BOOK AND AUDIOBOOK CHECKOUTS IN 2020
Although its doors were closed to the public for much of the year in an effort to slow the spread of Covid-19, the Marshall County Public Library saw a 10.6 percent increase in the number of digital items downloaded by patrons on apps and sites such as Hoopla and Libby in 2020.
With the library’s number of digital downloads making the jump from 51,366 in 2019 to 56,788 last year, Benton Branch Manager Lenisa Jones said the library is always purchasing items to improve its digital content and is thankful that patrons see the value in those online resources.
“Digital downloads will never replace print items,” she said. “But in a time where downloading from home became a necessity, we were happy to provide our patrons with that resource.”
All of the library’s databases are available at no cost to patrons and include resources that give patrons access to music, magazines, movies, language learning, e-books, comic books, kids’ books, audiobooks, professional articles, graphic novels, resumes, business research and more.
Links to sites such as Freegal, Hoopla, Libby, Freading, Overdrive and more can be found on the library’s website, and material can be accessed using a library card and phone number to log in.
