First Ever Community Baby Shower Scheduled

BENTON, KY – The Marshall County Health Department, in partnership with WellCare, one of the leading providers of health insurance to children and pregnant women in Kentucky, will be hosting a Community Baby Shower on Thursday, February 12, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the new health department building on Slickback Road.

According to Joanna Colson, HANDS Coordinator for the Marshall County Health Department, the baby shower will feature different community partners to offer information about various services and programs available to new and expectant parents. There will also be refreshments, door prizes, and baby related incentives for those who attend.

“This is a great opportunity for new and soon-to-be parents to learn more about what is available to them and their children in our community,” says Lenisa Jones of the Marshall County Public Library, one of the community partners who will be joining the health department. “As the mother of young children, I know how overwhelming having your first baby can be. This event will not only offer a wealth of information, but a chance to interact and ask questions of the various experts who will be on hand.”

The Community Baby Shower is free and open to all new and expectant mothers. Attendees are encouraged to register by contacting Joanna Colson at 270-252-2726 by January 30.
