FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bestselling Authors and More To Speak at Annual Teen Creative Conference

Calvert City, KY – Bestselling authors Carrie Ryan (The Forrest of Hands and Teeth), Ilona Andrews (Kate Daniels series), and Amy Bartol (Sea of Stars), along with Bobby Bennett, Creature Creator at Jim Henson Studios, and J. Torres, writer of the popular Teen Titan Go! comics, will be sharing insight into their jobs and the art of world building at the Marshall County Public Library’s Teen Creative Conference.
“We are very excited to have such an amazing group of creative professionals join us this year,” says Tammy Blackwell, Young Adult Librarian. “To be able to learn from and interact with such gifted people is really inspiring for our teens.”
The workshop, which is in its fourth year, gives local teens a chance to learn about writing and other creative fields through a series of Skype visits scheduled throughout the day. Skype is a video calling service that allows participants to see and hear each other despite being miles, and sometimes countries, apart. Students who attend will be able to not only see and hear the presenters, but also be able to interact and ask questions.
Blackwell says that without video calling, the Teen Creative Workshop wouldn’t be possible.
“To get an author to visit our library, we would not only have to pay a speaking fee, but also travel costs, which could include plane fare, car rental fees, and hotel accommodations. With virtual visits, there is no need for our speakers to travel. They just use their computer to call in from their living room or office, which is really cool. Sometimes we learn just as much from being able to see their workspace as we do from the presentations.”
The Teen Creative Workshop will take place on Saturday, April 25, at the Marshall County Public Library @Calvert City from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. The program is free to students in grades 7-12, however preregistration is required as space is limited. To register, participants should call 270-527-9969, ext. 228, or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
